Climbing team
Name and surname:

Evgeny Kryvosheytsev

Domicile:

Odessa, Ukraine

First climbing experience:

It was in 1985. There are beautiful 25 m high rocks about 150 km from Odessa, where I climbed for the first time.

The toughest climb you are proud of:

Second place finishes for difficulty in the World Climbing Competitions in Milan and Leipzig in 1998 and 1999. Third place in the World Cup in Oweral, second place in the Master Bouldering Competition in Argentier. Three titles as world champion in climbing on ice: Pitztal 2001, Kirov 2003, Saas Fee 2005. And also first place in Rock Master 1993 for speed climbing.

Favourite climbing area:

Arco, Massone, Saint Leger, Deverse and also Crimea in Ukraine.

Leisure time:

Music, books, travelling around the world and also yoga.

The reason why you go climbing:

Because I just like this kind of sport! The training is never boring, your will always find different places, rocks, beautiful nature. I love the confrontation of my body with the rock, when I am absorbing all the natural energy.

Training day:

Two hours of stretching, yoga and the next exercises immediately in the morning and then from three to five hours of true training in the evening, five times a week.

Motivation:

I always try to be first at all I do. That is the most powerful motivation for the hard training!

Toughest experience in the mountains:

Perhaps M13+ The Game. At the moment, the most difficult mixed route in the world, Canmore, Canada in 2005. It hurt a lot!

Idol:

Patrick Eddlinger and Will Gadd (Canada) because of the paths their lives have taken. They have spent all their lives with climbing rocks and they have never gotten bored with it. Both are living in the mountains at the moment, pretty close to wild nature, and they are true climbing fanatics!

Opinion on the current mountain climbing scene:

The level of climbing around the world is constantly increasing and improving. Still more and more people dabble in climbing and its level is increasing. Now, nobody wonders at climbs of 8c+! A lot of young climbers achieve the performance level of their older colleagues, who have already had 10 years of experience. I think that climbing has a great future!

Motto:

Toyota :)

Plans for the future:

I would like to win the World Climbing Championship on Ice in the winter of 2006.

Chat about myself:

I am a training fanatic! A real fanatic for climbing and sports! I have never missed my morning gymnastics in my twenty years of climbing.

Yevgeny is the next star of our team. He had won most of his master titles before we started working with him. All of us admired his enormous versatility – he had managed to win bouldering competitions, speed competitions and in addition to that, he climbed over difficult mixed paths. Nowadays, he concentrates more on climbing on ice, but he still does pretty well at climbing on rocks. His car broke down recently, but you can bet that you will surely meet him in Saint Leger, France, where he will arrive in his Toyota :)
